Jaysh al-Islam seizes control of HTS strongholds in the Eastern Ghouta area

Clashes erupted between Jaysh al-Islam and Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in different parts of theEeastern Ghouta resumed on Saturday for the second day in a row after a bloody day between the two sides on Friday, which claimed  the lives of dozens fighters of both sides and some civilians as well.

During the clashes, Jaysh al-Islam took control of the most prominent strongholds of HTS  in the areas of Arbeen and al-Ash'ari, as well as the main command and administrative offices, while ongoing skirmishes are still in the areas of Wahaza and Iftris.

The death toll from Jaysh al-Islam and HTS and Faylaq al-Rahman, who intervened in a limited amount of clashes, climbed 45 dead, including a number of civilians, identical sources confirmed to ElDorar network.

In its official statement, Jaysh al-Islam accused “HTS organization" of attacking its supporters who were heading to the neighborhood of Qaboun to reinforce the fronts there against the Syrian regime and confirmed that HTS fighters arrested the whole reinforcement forces.

Jaysh said in its statement that the arrests and attacks have been repeated, and failed to stop or release the reinforcement forces; what "forced them to" such as an option, refering to armed clashes.

The statement stressed that the problem is confined to HTS  and that Jaysh al-Islam and Faylaq al-Rahman are in one trench, and have the same goal seek for "the protection of the Ghouta from the Assad tyranny and his gangs and the extremists as well" as the statement put it.
