The flags of Russia and the Syrian regime were raised in the city of Afrin and its countryside in the northern countryside of Aleppo, which is controlled by the militia of the Kurdish protection units YPG, Turkish media sources reported.
Anadolu news agency said it had taken pictures of the flag-raising over sites, which was along the border of the city of Afrin with Turkey, especially in the distance from Rti "Akjabaglar" and "Demir Ishik" Turkish areas in the state of Kellis.
The agency said the two flags can be seen clearly from within Turkish territory, pointing out that the aim of lifting them is to protect the militias themselves in those areas.
Russian & Syrian regime’s officers pay visits to Afrin
The flags raising preceded by Russian and the Assad regime’s officers have already repeatedly visited sites belonging to the YPG militias in Afrin and the occupied areas in the northern countryside of Aleppo, including Tal Refa'at and lines of contact with the Free Syrian Army factions in the city of Aazaz and its countryside.
Officers of the Syrian regime, Iran and Russia visited the YPG military areas and sites. The flag of the Syrian regime was also raised in one of the YPG camps in the area of Kafr Jannah, according to media sources.
It should be noted that Russia opened a military site near the city of Afrin and put a number of its mechanisms and troops on the pretext that it is a site to follow up the ceasefire between the YPG and the Free Syrian Army factions.
