Jaysh al-Ahrar along with other factions on Saturday 2 June launched a surprise attack against Syrian Army forces in Latakia Governorate, inflicting losses in personnel and material.

Jaysh al-Ahrar said in a statement on Saturday that its "fighters launched, in coordination with another group, a surprise attack against positions held by Assad's militias in Ard al-Wata village in Latakia Governorate. This resulted in several soldiers being killed and weaponry being seized".

This operation came two days after the National Liberation Front faction announced the killing of two groups of regime troops, after these were targeted by a Fagot anti-tank missile in the al-Ziyara area in Latakia's Jabal al-Akrad region.

Eleven opposition factions, including Faylaq al-Sham, the Free Idlib Army, Jaysh al-Nasr, the First Coastal Division, and the First Infantry Division announced last Monday the formation of the National Liberation Front, with the aim of defending the gains of the Syrian rebellion.
