Wide-spread epidemics and diseases in the neighborhoods of the city of Raqqa as a result of the collapse of one of the earth dams called "Equestrian" Dam, and the flooding of many residential areas, Syrian activists and doctors warned of.
According to media sources, the dam was built about a month ago in the western part of the city of Raqqa aims at blocking the flow of water from the al-Belikh channel, which resulted in the collapse of five neighborhoods: the Romania ,Sebahia, Mafra’ al-Jazara, al-Haswia and parts of al-Muroor neighborhood.
The cause of the collapse of the dam is an air strike of the International Coalition targeted it on Monday ,the sources explained, noting at the same time that the water held in the dam had been contaminated with the passage of time, which may predict a health disaster and the spread of diseases in the city.
Photos showing neighborhoods that had been flooded were posted on social networking sites.
It is noteworthy that the people of the flooded neighborhoods have displaced to other neighborhoods within the city, so that any air strike of the International Coalition may target these neighborhoods may result in a massacre would claime the lives of dozens of civilians.
