10 Influential Figures in the Syrian Revolution

The six-years extended Syrian Revolution  has many expertized and efficient figures, who left a strong print and influenced politically, militarily  or in media arena on the reality of the Syrian struggle, where many of such individuals passed away , whereas others  stay to resume.
The monitoring team in #ElDorar AlShamia news network, did  a study about the most influential 10 figures in various levels in the Syrian Revolution, especially the political and military fields.

  1. Labib Nahhas (nicknamed Abu Izz al-Din), from the province of Homs,  which is known as the capital of the Syrian Revolution. Nahhas has a degree in Telecommunications engineering and business management, he also has a diploma in international relations from universities of England, and served as a consultant for many private telecommunication companies and governmental organizations in several European and American countries, before the Syrian Revolution started, he participated in peaceful demonstrations as it were launched , and co-founded the "Brigade of Truth"or “Lewaa al-Haq” fought  in the province of Homs, and served as a director of the faction’s political bureau , and he  worked as the Director of Studies Office in the political wing of the Islamic Front and a member of the Shura Council , and now he is the Political Director  of the Foreign Affairs  to the Islamic movement of Ahrar al-Sham after the merger of “Lewaa al-Haq” with the movement, , and he oversaw the negotiations between the the Islamic Front , the United Nations and Iran over the evacuation of the besieged people of Homs, and also  oversaw the negotiations of “Jaysh al-Fateh” with the United Nations and Iran, regarding the evacuation of the wounded of Zabadani and Madaya and the food introduction.

2. Abu Abdullah al-Husseini (nicknamed Abu Abdallah 200), is one of the Daraa’s sons, he worked before the Syrian Revolution as flight engineer, participated revolutionary moves, and served as the military commander of the “al-Habib al-Mustafa” brigades , and chief of staff of the “al-Imam Husein”  brigade , then vice chief of staff in the Army of Islam or “Jaysh al-Islam” and as a field commander he participated in many battles, most notably liberating  the eastern Ghouta battles, the battle of "Allah A’la wa Ajal”" and the battle of "Allah Ghalib" aimed at breaking the siege imposed on the eastern Ghouta area .

3. Mo’ayad Abu Wa’el, the son of Daria City, he studied journalism, and joined the Syrian Revolution since its beginning, and participated in armed action and was among the founders of “Shohadaa  Darya” battalion, and served as its commander, as it was merged with the battalion of “Osoud al-Tawhid” and joining the brigade of “Shohadaa  al-Islam”, the largest factions fighting in Darya City.  Abu Wa’el helped to develop the  structural  and military brigade’s  strategies, and recently he has worked as a deputy commander of “Shohadaa al-Islam”  brigade , and he is one of the most prominent contributors to the fateful decisions of the civilian-and-military-besieged city.

4. Hussam Salama (nicknamed Abu Baker), leading a young man, born in the town of Jrjanaz, Idlib, he studied at the Faculty of Law, the college of Arabic literature in Trablos University, Lebanon, as the Syrian Revolution started , he worked to collect donations and send them to Syria before he became  wanted  for the Assad regime and the militias "Hezbollah" and was able to enter Syria after the outbreak of the revolution through smuggling routes, came to his hometown and took part in peaceful demonstrations, then engaged in armed action forming a military battalion which joined the movement of "Islamic  movement of Ahrar al-Sham. The movement assigned him to lead  military convoy to participate in “al-Qusir” defending battle Rural Homs, as then he was sent as a leader with  military forces belonging to Ahrar al-Sham to fight the “Islamic State” group, north of Aleppo, and he is currently the commander of “Ahel al-Sunnah”  brigade within Ahrar al-Sham, and played a major role in lecturing and raising awareness about  the ideas invoked by the “Islamic State” Group o, and he was subjected to several assassination attempts, and recently he got injured in the battles  to break the siege of Aleppo.

5. (Major) Yasser AbdulRahim (nicknamed Abu Aref), born in the town of Turmanin Rural Idlib, defected from the Assad regime in the beginning of the Syrian revolution and engaged in armed action, he participated in a number of battles the most important are “46-regiment  Liberating  , also he led the of operations room of “Qademoon” battle  aiming to break the siege imposed on the city of Homs, and served as military commander of the “Civilians’ Protecting Body” before it with a number of brigades made up "Faylaq al-Sham", where AbdulRahim works as a field commander ,he  was chosen as the leader of Fateh Halab operations room. He has extraordinary regional relations.

6. Captain Abu al-Munzer, was born in the city of Hama, graduated from the Military Academy of Engineering, and served as an officer in the army, he was sent to Russia to get a specialist course on modern weapons, he led “alEman” brigade one of the most important operating brigades of the Islamic movement of  Ahrar al-Sham, and he was the commander of ”liberating al-Hamdya camp” , he has been recently appointed as a leader of Ahrar al-Sham Islamic movement’s operations within its military wing.

7. Tawfiq Shahabuddin, was born in the town of “Quptan al-Jabal” Aleppo western countryside , and one of the most wised elders of the region, supported the peaceful demonstrations in the Syrian Revolution, and founded “Noureddine al-Zanki” Battalion, which later became militarily and politically a major foundation with  a civilian entity carries the same name, led by Sheikh Tawfiq, who later apologized for continuing his duties because of his health, but his importance  pays  the Shura Council to appoint him  as a leader of the movement again several months ago.

8. Hadi Abdullah, He comes from “al-Qusir” city in Homs province, and studied at the Faculty of Arts and cut off from completing his studies because of the joining of the Syrian Revolution since its inception, contributed to the revolutionary movement in Homs, he moved to “al-Qusir” city and contributed to the coverage of "Hezbollah" militia’s attack on the city, and moved to northern Syria, and continued in documenting the al-Assad and Russia regimes’ crimes, and supervised to provide many international agencies with reports and evidence to show the suffering of the Syrian people from the crimes committed against civilians. Hadi is very famous within revolutionary circles, also he frequently got  injured , most notably during the coverage of the rebels fighting in the town of Homs, then he injured during the Russian aggression as he was documenting in Aleppo, after a rocket hit a place  next to him, and recently he was targeted with an explosive device that was about to spent his life , where he is still in the stage of treatment.

9. Dr. Abdel Moneim Zainuddin, was born in the province of Idlib ,opponent  to the al-Assad the father’s  regime , he holds a master's degree in Share’a from Damascus University, and got in 2015 a PHD.  from the University of Trablos in Lebanon, and participated in the revolutionary movement since it began, ,he  presided over the Revolution scientists gathered in Idlib, and served as a member of the preparatory committee and spokesman of "Wa Etasimo" initiative, and he is a coordinator between the various factions and military operations rooms , and he is a favorite individual in the majority of factions.

10. Akram Tohme, a Faculty of Civil Engineering graduate`, he joined the revolutionary steps since the beginning  , and served as chairman of the local council in the city of Douma, he was chosen as governor of Damascus, and is currently the Vice President of the Syrian interim government, he  has also been chosen as chairman of the (Events Committee) , which seeks to resolve differences between the factions of Eastern Ghouta, and he  is a distinct administrative character, the owner of a popular and revolutionary weight.

To talk about characters affecting the Syrian Revolution ,it  would not be forgotten to mentioned  some figures as the leader of Al-Tawhid Brigade military commander Abdul Qadir Saleh, who worked before the revolution as a foodstuffs merchant, and worked for  the “Islamic call”, and as the revolution erupted he sold a lot of his property in order to support for armed action in the province Aleppo, where he led the brigade of “Ahrar al-Shamal”  before meeting a number of brigades in the province of Aleppo and compose “ Al-Tawhid” Brigade, who served as a military commander for, and later he was named as a military commander of the Islamic Front when it was formed a few days before he was assassinated  , with an anonymous airstrike hit the meeting he attended.

Also Jaysh al-Islam commander, "Zahran Aloush"  can never  be forgotten , came  from the city of Douma, he was from a committed family, where his father “Sheikh Abdullah Alloush” worked as  a “Dayah” caller for Islamic, and "Zahran" studied at the Faculty of Share’a at the University of Damascus, and completed his studies at the University of Medina, and founded a contracting- specialized company before being arrested in Sednaya prison after 2009, he founded  “Lewaa al-Islam” faction  , which mainly contributed to the liberalization in Eastern Ghouta, before it merged with several factions to form  “Jaysh al-Islam” and "Zahran" became its  leader, he also was the military commander in the Islamic Front after al-Shaleh passed away.
