IS Group withdraws from southern area of “Al-Qaryatin” town in favor of the Syrian regime

IS organization withdrew on Wednesday from several sites in the eastern Homs countryside in favor of the Syrian regime, which is trying to prevent the revolutionary factions from linking the areas of Badia with eastern Qalamoun, identical field sources confirmed.

The sources said that the organization withdrew during the past two days from its military points located south and east of al-Qaryatin town in the eastern countryside of Homs so the Assad regime made advance the alongside its militias and controlled the region, adding that the organization also withdrew from Qasr al-Hayr al-Gharbi and Qasr al-Halabat sites southwest of the city of Palmyra for the regime.

The areas from which the IS organization withdrew were of strategic importance to the regime on the one hand, and the revolutionary factions on the other, where the factions were seeking to seize over them in order to reach the eastern Qalamoun area linked with the Syrian desert, so that is the Syrian regime captures these sites , it will prevent such a connection for the rebels.

The latest withdrawal of the IS organization in the region is in the interest of the regime, which is trying to expand its influence in the region and cut off the areas preventing the revolutionary factions in order to confuse them and prevent them from expanding towards Deir al-Zour and the regime’s intention is to reach the border crossing with Iraq in preparation for the start of the battle of Deir al-Zour..
