ElDorar AlShamia:

Asayish militia of the Democratic Union Party (PYD) on Tuesday detained 13 members of the General Secretariat of the Kurdish National Council, known for opposing the party's practices against the Kurdish people in Syria.

An armed group of Asayish raided the headquarters of the General Secretariat of the Council in “al-Siahi” district of Qamishli city and arrested 13 members after the council re-opened its headquarters last Sunday following a sit-in by the members in front of the headquarters, denouncing the party's practices on the backdrop of the closure of all the Council’s offices and its parties, sources reported.

In turn, a member of the Central Committee of the Kurdish Party of Yekiti in Syria, Bahjat Sheiku, told the “Ar news” website that "the raid of the General Secretariat office by Asayish comes in the context of the exclusionary policies strangling political life and imposing the logic of military force against the Kurdish National Council in Syria and The Kurdish people in Kurdistan of Syria ".

Sheiku also appealed to human rights organizations and decision-makers to put pressure on the PYD to abandon its practices against the people and the Kurdish parties.

The Democratic Union Party, which controls the Kurdish areas of northern Syria, has closed all offices of the Kurdish National Council and its parties in March claiming that they do not have licenses.
