A British woman killed and two Israelis injured in a stabbing operation in Jerusalem

A British student was killed and two Israelis were wounded Friday afternoon in a stabbing operation in occupied Jerusalem.

The Israeli police said in a statement that a 20-years young woman was injured "seriously" after being stabbed by a young Palestinian man while riding a train in the "New Gate" in the old town of Jerusalem, before announcing her death due to serious injuries.

Police added that the operation took place at the light train station on the street "Jaffa", before the troops "neutralized" the Palestinian and arrested.

Later, a statement by the Israeli army confirmed that the victim was a British student.

It was reported that the doer’s name is Jamil al-Tamimi, a resident of the Ras al-Amud neighborhood (57 years), was riding the train, then took his knife and stabbed before being taken over by an Israeli police officer and a settler.

A 30-year-old Israeli settler and another settler in their fifties were also taken to the hospital for treatment, according to the Hebrew Public Radio.

Israeli forces rushed to the area of ​​Kikar Tasahel in Jerusalem.

The Israeli forces also closed the gates of  “al-Asbat and al-Amoud” in Jerusalem, and began extensive search and investigation in the place, while arrested Yazen Harbawi from Bab Hatta area in the old town.

It is noteworthy that the Israeli police reinforced the past days of its military presence in the city of Jerusalem and the oasis of Al-Aqsa Mosque and at its doors, coinciding with the advent of the Hebrew "Passover".

The Israeli police, according to local sources, turned the city of Jerusalem, especially the Old City, the Al-Aqsa area and Al-Buraq square into a "military barracks".
